About the Role

This full-time, fixed-term position supports the academic mission of NYU London by overseeing curriculum development, teaching courses in Economics and Politics, and fostering a positive learning environment. The role involves supporting academic leadership and contributing to NYU London and New York University's academic vision and mission, including a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee development of courses in Economics and Politics.
  • Teach courses in Economics, Politics, and related areas.
  • Foster a positive teaching and learning environment.
  • Develop, implement, and manage curriculum and academic support programs.
  • Assist in updating lesson content and instruction methodology.
  • Assist in developing training modules and programs.
  • Assist with classroom scheduling.
  • Provide instructor support, including onboarding and learning management system support.
  • Uphold university policies.
  • Liaise with students for academic advising.
  • Teach approximately 4 classes per academic year (up to 8 credits total per semester).
  • Prepare lectures, deliver courses, and liaise with NYU departments.
  • Review new course materials and mark student work.
  • Provide office hours for enrolled students.
  • Coordinate academic components and chaperone special excursions.
  • Collaborate with NYU colleagues on curricular issues.
  • Coordinate the recruitment of new faculty, including onboarding and training.
  • Advise lecturers and develop co-curricular activities for students.
  • Provide guidance and training to students on navigating bias.
  • Assist with timetabling, faculty recruitment planning, and student registration.
  • Participate in program assessment and faculty development coordination.
  • Support the investigation of academic integrity concerns.
  • Provide guidance and training to faculty on navigating bias.
  • Collaborate with Wasserman Center and Global Programs staff to develop career development programming.
  • Develop and maintain individual/joint research projects.
  • Attend and participate in research seminars and conferences.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer in subject-related areas.
  • Engage in professional development.
  • Respond to faculty and student queries regarding academics, conduct, attendance, and other issues.
  • Provide advice and guidance on academic policies and procedures.
  • Plan and participate in student orientations.
  • Communicate with new students prior to matriculation.
  • Assist with identifying faculty staffing needs and participating in appointments.
  • Assist with faculty evaluations and feedback.
  • Assist with the maintenance of academic records.
  • Assist with organizing and supporting on-site functions and meetings.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the program.
  • Perform other supporting duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Educated to PhD level, or equivalent, in an appropriate field.
  • Relevant teaching experience, particularly teaching American undergraduates.
  • Prior experience mentoring faculty.
  • Experience in coordinating or overseeing administrative projects in a university setting.
  • Must have the unrestricted right to work and live in the UK prior to appointment.
