About the Role
The Director Oncology Corporate Affairs serves as a key advisor for AstraZeneca's Oncology Business in Japan, focusing on policy, innovation, patient outcomes, and reputation management. This role drives cross-functional efforts to improve cancer detection, treatment access, and patient care across Japan, while contributing to the broader Corporate Affairs strategy and positioning AstraZeneca as a healthcare solutions partner.
Responsibilities
- Define and advance policy interests aligned with AstraZeneca's innovation, new treatment launches, and patient outcome improvement in Japan.
- Grow AstraZeneca's reputation as a leader in oncology.
- Strengthen collaboration with patient advocacy organizations.
- Drive efforts to advance early detection of cancer, improve access to innovative treatments, and ensure equitable patient access to high-quality cancer care.
- Contribute to AstraZeneca Japan's wider Corporate Affairs strategy.
- Develop evidence-based arguments and engage stakeholders at national and local levels.
- Position AstraZeneca as a solutions-oriented partner to Japan's healthcare system.
- Support policy engagement on access to innovative oncology medicines, including understanding Chuikyo, MHLW, and drug pricing processes.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in corporate affairs, public affairs, communications, or a related field within the healthcare sector.
- Experience engaging with senior leadership and high-level external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of Japan's healthcare policy landscape, including MHLW, PMDA, Chuikyo, and drug pricing/reimbursement processes.
- Proven relationship development and management skills with government, industry associations, or patient organizations.
- Experience in cross-functional collaboration and matrix working environments.
- Track record of strategic thinking and managing complex stakeholder initiatives.
- Experience in oncology policy or a deep understanding of oncology (desirable).
- Patient advocacy organization experience (desirable).
- Experience working with global headquarters or in multinational organizations (desirable).
- Line management experience (desirable).
