About the Role
Grant Thornton is growing its team providing Accounting, Financial Reporting and Finance Function Support to Public Sector organisations. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the development and growth of the service, in addition to directly supporting Public Sector organisations through their current challenges.
Responsibilities
- Deliver non-audit engagements across a range of services, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Solve complex technical matters for clients, including accounting issues, new standard implementation, financial reporting review and creation, and financial management/governance.
- Undertake wider team responsibilities through training and pitching new projects.
- Engage in business development and generate ideas for new service offerings.
- Oversee team members in project delivery.
- Support the oversight of project finances and budgets.
- Manage client onboarding.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the team and clients.
- Continuously strive for self-improvement and business advancement with support.
Requirements
- Professional Accounting qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA).
- Post-qualification experience in providing professional services (External Audit/Consulting) to Local Authorities and Health bodies, or from within Local Government or Health finance functions.
- Strong grasp of IFRS accounting standards and their public sector implementation to address client queries.
- Excellent knowledge of public sector financial reporting.
- Project management experience.
- Experience in leading and developing relationships.
- Experience of coaching junior colleagues.
