About the Role

The Security & Compliance Engineer owns the security, compliance, and integration of our tool ecosystem, including CRM, community/LMS, data, and collaboration platforms. This is a hands-on technical role focused on hardening, connecting, and automating existing platforms through scripting, API work, and system/security architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure configurations, access controls, SSO, secrets management, and data protection controls across the tool stack.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection requirements (e.g., GDPR), manage audit readiness, and lead vendor/security reviews for new tools.
  • Oversee the secure and compliant use of AI tools, ensuring alignment with the EU AI Act and internal data protection standards.
  • Classify and document AI workflows and advise teams on safe AI usage.
  • Build and maintain API-based integrations and automations between operational platforms using scripting and automation tools.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting across systems.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of security and technical incidents.
  • Identify and automate manual, recurring workflows.
  • Collaborate with marketing, business development, and leadership to translate operational needs into secure technical solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date architecture, security, and compliance documentation.

Requirements

  • Comfortable writing code/scripts (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Experience working with REST APIs.
  • Ability to reason about system architecture applied to integration and security.
  • Strong grounding in security fundamentals: access management, authentication, secrets and vulnerability management, and data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR).
  • Practical experience working with AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini).
  • Solid understanding of the EU AI Act and AI governance principles.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot (CRM and automation), Notion, and LMS/Community platforms (e.g., Hivebrite, Circle), or ability to quickly learn new SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with automation and workflow tooling (e.g., Zapier, Make, native integrations).
  • Experience with data analysis.
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach, comfortable owning technical decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • German language skills are a plus.
