About the Role
The Cash Operations Executive will join the Private Credit Operations team, taking responsibility for the Cash Operations function. This hands-on role is critical for ensuring the integrity of loanbook cash records, timely processing of direct debits, and effective management of unallocated cash and participation payments for a c. £1.5bn loan portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Post all daily cash movements from bank statements into the lending system.
- Accurately allocate borrower receipts, interest, fees, and other payments.
- Investigate and resolve unallocated or misapplied cash promptly.
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure cash postings align with general ledger entries.
- Clear small residual balances and resolve reconciliation breaks.
- Manage the end-to-end Direct Debit process, including preparing and submitting DD files.
- Monitor DD collections and investigate failed or rejected DDs.
- Ensure DD receipts are correctly posted and allocated within the lending system.
- Maintain accurate records of DD mandates and collection schedules.
- Process and settle participation payments across multiple funds/entities.
- Ensure cash is correctly allocated between participating parties.
- Support accurate recording of participation cashflows in the lending system.
- Liaise with internal teams for timely and accurate settlements.
- Monitor the shared payments inbox and respond to internal queries.
- Prepare and process the weekly overhead payment run.
- Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained prior to payment release.
- Maintain strong controls around payment processing and documentation.
- Support month-end processes through timely completion of cash postings and reconciliations.
- Assist with audit requests related to cash movements and reconciliations.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within Cash Operations.
- Maintain up-to-date process documentation.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in cash operations, loan administration, or lending operations.
- Experience posting and allocating high volumes of cash transactions.
- Strong bank reconciliation experience.
- Experience working within a Leasing / Asset Finance financial services environment.
- Familiarity with Direct Debit processes.
- Comfortable working with financial systems and large data sets.
- High attention to detail and strong control mindset.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to investigate and resolve issues independently.
- Organised and able to work under pressure and manage daily deadlines.
- Clear communicator and collaborative team player.
- Proactive and willing to improve existing processes.
Skills
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables and data analysis.
- Macros desirable.
- Open to using AI to utilise solutions to enable smarter and more efficient ways of working.
- Experience using lending or finance systems.
