About the Role

EY's Financial Services practice is a unique industry-focused business unit providing integrated services to financial institutions and capital markets participants. The UK's Regulatory Insight Team operates globally to deliver deep regulatory expertise, focusing on the intersection of strategy, regulation, and technology. The team aims to be market-leading by anticipating the regulatory agenda and assisting clients with compliance, design, and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Cover the regulatory waterfront, in both conduct and prudential, with a focus on Prudential policy and Insurance.
  • Design or review long-term views of the strategic direction of regulation.
  • Analyze changing regulation, such as Duty of Care and Insurance pricing.
  • Assess innovative business models and their fit with regulation.
  • Develop regulatory models overseas.
  • Manage senior manager appointments.
  • Develop approaches to authorization.
  • Provide rapid communications for clients on regulatory changes.
  • Serve as an internal center of excellence for regulatory reviews like s166s.
  • Articulate EY findings, conclusions, and recommendations in writing or verbally.
  • Take responsibility for engagement planning and management.
  • Act as day-to-day lead on client site, managing teams.
  • Own the analysis of emerging issues and develop an EY point of view and proposition.
  • Lead proposals for new client opportunities.
  • Develop client relationships and identify opportunities for additional services.
  • Work effectively as a team member, providing support and updating senior members.
  • Mentor staff, conduct performance reviews, and contribute to performance feedback.

Requirements

  • Experience of working at a senior level, preferably as a regulator, in regulatory affairs, or regulatory consulting.
  • Experience of managing and developing people through supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the regulatory environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for report writing and client presentations.
  • Ability to prioritize and challenge.
