About the Role

As a Peripatetic Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will provide front line support across Advance’s domestic abuse services, covering vacancies across teams to ensure service delivery remains effective and consistent. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and experience in a range of settings and would suit someone who is passionate about advocating for victim/survivors of domestic abuse. You will thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy the diversity of working across a range of roles within different teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front line support across Advance’s domestic abuse services, covering vacancies across teams.
  • Cover a range of roles involving advocacy and support of people experiencing domestic abuse.
  • Potentially co-locate with partner agencies, deliver training, or undertake triage and assessment work.
  • Adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

Requirements

  • An excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children.
  • Understanding of best practice within domestic abuse services in various areas of need.
  • Particular knowledge of safeguarding and legislation.
  • Experience as a domestic violence advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs.
  • Skilled in risk management and safety planning.
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis.
  • Experience handling sensitive information on a daily basis.
  • Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic violence.
  • Experience supporting women with child safeguarding and needs.
  • Experience working within safeguarding procedures.
  • Must have an excellent understanding of domestic violence and its effects on women and children.
  • Must have some past experience working directly with victim/survivors of domestic abuse.
  • Any offer of employment will be made subject to references, confirmation of the right to work in the UK, and satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
  • This role may be subject to Police Vetting in the future.

Salary/Compensations

  • £28,000 - £35,000 per annum

About the Company
