About the Role

The Host is responsible for creating a welcoming, organized, and professional first and last impression for guests at War Memorial. This role manages guest arrival, reservations, seating assignments, section balance, guest communication, and host stand organization while supporting smooth and efficient restaurant service.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Check in guests with reservations and provide accurate wait times for walk-ins.
• Escort guests to tables and provide menus.
• Manage the floor plan and track open, occupied, and dirty/resetting tables.
• Rotate table assignments fairly among Union servers.
• Accommodate seating requests, including high chairs, booster seats, and preferred seating areas.
• Answer phone calls and assist with questions, hours, and future reservations.
• Communicate with servers and kitchen staff regarding large parties, VIPs, and special requests.
• Keep menus clean and the host/waiting area neat and organized.
• Support the team and maintain a positive, professional guest experience throughout service.

Requirements

• Previous restaurant, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, friendly, and team-oriented.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and coworkers.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and event days as scheduled.
