About the Role

CORRECTIV.Exile supports exiled journalists by providing platforms for their voices and work, focusing on editorial and media collaboration. This role involves assisting exiled journalists with research, fact-checking, and preparing their stories for a German-speaking audience.

Responsibilities

  • Support exiled journalists with editorial preparation, research, and fact-checking of their contributions.
  • Assist with translation and linguistic editing of texts from English to German, ensuring journalistic and stylistic quality.
  • Independently research topics related to press freedom, exile journalism, and the community's work.
  • Support the verification of sources, data, and facts for publications.
  • Contribute to the preparation and follow-up of talk formats, workshops, and other events, providing on-site support (1-2 evenings per month in Berlin).
  • Maintain close communication with the exile media community to understand and editorially support their journalistic concerns and needs.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at a university or university of applied sciences (valid enrollment certificate required).
  • Fluent German (written and spoken) and very good English skills (minimum C1).
  • First practical experience in journalism or editorial work (e.g., internships, freelance work, university newspaper, own publications).
  • First experience with or strong interest in fact-checking and journalistic verification.
  • Accurate and precise work ethic with a good sense for journalistic diligence and source criticism.
  • Interculturally sensitive and interested in working with exile media communities.
  • Motivated to actively shape CORRECTIV.Exile's goals and advocate for press freedom.
