About the Role
The Saratoga Regional YMCA seeks an enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to foster a nurturing, safe, and playful environment for young learners. This role involves supporting children through early milestones, assisting with curriculum implementation, and building relationships with families, all within a mission-driven organization focused on community strengthening.
Responsibilities
- Maintain classroom ratios for breaks, planning, and other duties.
- Assist teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
- Participate actively in classroom instruction.
- Adhere to YMCA and OCFS guidelines for child interaction and discipline.
- Support behavioral management plans with confidentiality and patience.
- Complete accurate records of attendance, progress, and behavioral reports.
- Enforce YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.
- Respond to emergency situations immediately and complete related reports.
- Build effective relationships with members and identify potential volunteers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to the YMCA mission.
- Articulate and model the Y’s four core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Wear required uniform items at all times.
- Support other childcare programs to ensure ratio compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in a childcare setting.
- Working knowledge of NYS Pre-K curriculum and OCFS guidelines (if applicable).
- Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications.
