About the Role

This role owns the Advertising Operations & AI Enablement function end to end, including tag management, ad trafficking, and client statistics integrity. The Senior Director will define strategy, select and implement the technology stack, and partner with Data Engineering, Analytics, and Sales. Success involves establishing a best-in-class, scalable architecture that leverages AI tooling for increased productivity and company-wide adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Own the tag management strategy, including platform selection and end-to-end architecture.
  • Implement the chosen tag management platform with a focus on data layer design, conventions, and workflows.
  • Own ad trafficking and ad-server strategy, including evaluation, implementation, and operation.
  • Deliver defensible, client-facing impressions reporting that withstands third-party verification.
  • Reconcile internal and external measurement by partnering with Data Engineering and Analytics.
  • Utilize AI tools to increase productivity in operations-heavy tasks like tag reviews and reporting.
  • Stay current with industry best practices in programmatic and display ad serving.
  • Represent KCL with clients and internal stakeholders, explaining measurement approaches and commitments.
  • Build the Advertising Operations function, starting as an individual contributor and eventually hiring and managing a team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in advertising operations or ad trafficking at a publisher, media company, or high-traffic consumer app.
  • Direct ownership of a tag management platform (e.g., Google Tag Manager, Tealium).
  • Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise ad server (e.g., Google Ad Manager/DFP, Freestar).
  • Experience with client-facing reporting that has withstood outside scrutiny.
  • Working fluency with the signal path into ad platforms (e.g., Meta CAPI, Google Ads enhanced conversions).
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools to increase personal or team throughput on ops-heavy work.
  • Proven ability to manage a complex internal stakeholder network.
  • Presence to meet senior client-side executives alongside Sales.
  • Comfort operating with significant autonomy and ambiguity.
  • 5+ years leading an operations team of at least 3 technical individuals.
  • Clear experience building and growing a high-performing team.
