About the Role

Substitute teachers and teacher aides at The Chapel School are responsible for following daily plans, supervising academics, lunch, and recess, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment aligned with the school's mission.

Responsibilities

• Be on campus at the time determined by the administration.
• Follow daily instructional plans provided by the teacher.
• Establish trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
• Recognize and reinforce the importance of good conduct and achievement by students.
• Follow classroom rules for management and discipline.
• Be fair and consistent in following through on classroom/school rules.
• Use a balance of Law and Gospel in discipline, focusing on a cycle of forgiveness.
• Respond to the individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children.
• Be flexible when unusual situations or needs arise.
• Dress professionally and comfortably unless special circumstances arise.
• Dismiss classes on time and supervise dismissal according to school policy/procedures.

Requirements

• All TCS Substitute Teachers should have experience working with children.
• All TCS Substitute Teacher Aides should preferably have college degrees.
• A high school diploma accompanied by an interest in working with children and a willingness to align with the mission and philosophy of The Chapel School will suffice for Teacher Aides.
