About the Role
The Healthy Eating Unit seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to assist with implementing the Get the Good Stuff program, including program promotion, recruitment, enrollment, and survey administration. This position will primarily occur at supermarkets across NYC, with periodic visits to the NYC Health Department office in Long Island City, Queens, for data entry and other projects as needed. This is a temporary part-time role, 21 hours over 3 days weekly.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site visits at supermarkets across diverse communities and populations in NYC.
- Promote the program at participating supermarkets, including explaining how the program works and answering questions.
- Enroll eligible customers and track daily enrollment numbers.
- Enter participant enrollment data into Microsoft Excel.
- Assist with training supermarket staff on how to promote the program.
- Conduct participant surveys at supermarkets as needed.
- Ensure stock of program materials at participating supermarkets.
- Attend outreach events such as community health fairs to promote Get the Good Stuff.
- Assist with identification of potential outreach partners such as community-based organizations and SNAP enrollment centers.
Requirements
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required
- Proficiency in MS Excel
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Able to work independently, with limited need for supervision
- Experience working in multicultural settings with diverse populations in NYC
- Knowledgeable about health inequities and community food security issues
- Willing and able to travel to a variety of neighborhoods throughout NYC
- Willing and able to stand for long periods of time
- Must live in the New York City Tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT)
