About the Role

Penguin Solutions is expanding its AI Factory Platform business in Japan. This role will lead solution architecture activities and play a key role in pre-sales initiatives supporting market development and customer and partner development for enterprise AI infrastructure opportunities, working closely with customers, partners, sales, marketing, and global product teams to support business growth. The solution scope is AI infrastructure platforms, not AI application development or model research. It includes GPU servers, AI/HPC platforms, cluster management software, memory solutions, networking, storage, and professional services for design, deployment, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer technical discovery sessions with enterprise customers, SI partners, ISVs, and sales teams.
  • Identify business goals, workload requirements, infrastructure constraints, operating model requirements, and decision criteria.
  • Design end-to-end AI infrastructure architectures covering GPU compute, networking, storage, virtualization, containers, cluster management, monitoring, and operational services.
  • Translate requirements into solution architectures, configuration assumptions, deployment options, and technical validation plans.
  • Position Penguin Solutions capabilities clearly within customer AI/HPC infrastructure requirements and partner delivery models.
  • Create and review technical proposal content, statements of work, reference architectures, bill-of-material assumptions, PoC plans, and architecture documentation.
  • Ensure each proposal is technically sound, deliverable, commercially aligned, and linked to customer success criteria.
  • Present solution recommendations to infrastructure engineers, IT leaders, business owners, partners, and executives.
  • Handle technical objections, clarify trade-offs, and support sales teams in progressing qualified opportunities.
  • Define technical scope, assumptions, dependencies, milestones, risks, mitigations, and success criteria for multiple concurrent opportunities.
  • Coordinate with delivery, support, product, and engineering teams to confirm feasibility and execution readiness.
  • Support channel, SI, and ISV partners through technical enablement, joint solution design, seminars, workshops, and co-selling activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing on technical content, customer workshops, partner events, and demand generation programs.
  • Act as the technical interface between Japan customers and partners and global product, engineering, delivery, and support teams.
  • Communicate Japan market requirements, customer feedback, and deployment constraints in a structured and actionable manner.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of customer-facing technical experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, such as Solution Architect, Pre-Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, Technical Consultant, or equivalent role.
  • Proven experience in proposal, design, implementation, PoC, or technical validation for enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of servers, Linux/Windows, virtualization, networking, storage, security fundamentals, and data center or hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Ability to translate business and workload requirements into infrastructure solution designs and technical proposal content.
  • Strong presentation, whiteboarding, and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work with sales teams and partners to shape opportunities, define technical scope, and support opportunity progression.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and communicate milestones, dependencies, risks, and mitigations clearly.
  • Technical English capability to read product documentation, exchange written communication, and participate in technical discussions with global teams.
