About the Role

Physical Intelligence is developing learning algorithms to create a general-purpose AI model that will control any robot to do any task. The Data Operations team ensures the quality, understanding, and safety of multimodal data used for training these models. This role focuses on quality assurance and auditing of externally sourced data.

Responsibilities

  • Own external data QA & audit: Build and run the end-to-end QA process for multimodal data ingested from third-party vendors and partners, including sampling strategy, review workflows, pass/fail decisions, and audit trails.
  • Define quality standards: Partner with researchers to translate 'good data' into concrete, measurable rubrics and acceptance criteria, keeping them versioned and current.
  • Build the system: Develop software interfaces, tooling, and infrastructure to automate the system, correctly sampling data for QA, performing internal checks, tracking vendor quality dips, and exposing insights back to vendors.
  • Manage vendor quality loops: Deliver structured, actionable feedback to vendors, coach them on establishing their own QA checks, iterate until internal and vendor QA align, and enforce standards through review and acceptance processes.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5 years of experience building customer-facing software.
  • Vendor management experience, including direct work with third-party data providers, delivering actionable feedback, and measurably improving output quality.
  • Strong operational acumen and drive, with a bias for instrumentation, measurement, and rapid iteration.
  • Comfort being hands-on with data, including reviewing samples, writing/refining rubrics, and spot-checking program output.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with researchers, operations teams, and external partners.

Skills

  • Robotics
  • Egocentric video
  • Multimodal sensor data
  • Defining requirements for QA/validation tooling
  • Working with engineers on automated data quality checks

Experience Level

  • ~5 years of experience
