About the Role
The analyst provides administrative support, Japanese cultural analysis, and Japanese-English interpretation and translation services. This includes coordinating schedules, travel, access, security, and other logistical support. The role involves organizing preparatory sessions, conducting cultural analysis, and advising on communication strategies to optimize U.S.-Japanese bilateral military efforts.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support, including bilateral coordination, scheduling, travel, access, and security verification.
- Organize and conduct preparatory sessions with background information and talking points.
- Conduct Japanese and American cultural analysis and provide guidance to optimize bilateral understanding.
- Facilitate U.S.-Japanese bilateral military efforts at tactical and operational levels.
- Attend planning conferences, working groups, and site surveys to provide linguist support for maritime operations.
- Review, analyze, and translate various documents including letters, procedures, and military planning documents.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience with military operations and coordination with adjacent components and higher headquarters commands.
- 2+ years of experience with translation and interpretation support within the military.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of military organization and culture of joint U.S. Forces and partner allies in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Area of Operations.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense networks for information gathering (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, CENTRIX).
- Knowledge of Japanese culture, including military organization and its interaction with U.S. Forces and the U.S.-Japan Alliance.
- Ability to advise leadership on cultural matters to achieve military objectives.
- Ability to speak, write, and read in Japanese and English, communicating complex topics effectively.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- High school diploma or GED.
