About the Role
Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) is building a center of excellence for Intellectual Property (IP) applied to high-performance computing devices. This role will shape the verification of GPU subsystems for next-generation mobile GPUs, ensuring functional correctness, performance integrity, and architectural intent.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the verification strategy and hands-on validation of complex subsystem designs.
- Develop comprehensive verification plans, defining verification goals, coverage metrics, and sign-off criteria.
- Architect and implement advanced verification environments using SystemVerilog, UVM, and C++.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable verification testbenches.
- Develop test code in parallel with RTL, applying constrained-random testing, coverage-driven verification, and assertion-based techniques.
- Advance verification methodologies, tools, and automation to improve efficiency and quality.
- Create targeted and scalable test scenarios that stress interactions across multiple blocks, interfaces, and data paths.
- Analyze failures spanning blocks within a subsystem, identify root causes, and collaborate with design and architecture teams.
- Mentor engineers and exemplify a culture of ownership and innovation.
- Stay ahead of emerging verification technologies and methodologies.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or 8+ years of experience with a Master’s Degree, or 6+ years of experience with a Ph.D.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in GPU, CPU, or advanced semiconductor design verification.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and GPU subsystem design, including block-level and subsystem-level integration.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, Perl, or equivalent.
- Strong expertise in SystemVerilog and UVM, including constrained-random testing, functional coverage, and assertions.
- Experience with building configurable UVM testbenches for reuse across design hierarchies.
- Proven track record of achieving multiple first-pass silicon success.
- Experience with contributing to verification strategy and execution for multiple subsystem blocks and verification closure across interfaces.
- Excellent debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and influence in a fast-paced, global team environment.
- Ability to access information subject to U.S. export control restrictions or be eligible to receive government authorization.
- Agree not to disclose to Samsung any confidential or proprietary information (including trade secrets) belonging to any current or previous employer or other person or entity.
