About the Role

Canopy is seeking a seasoned and pragmatic Sr Mobile Software Engineer to design and build our mobile offerings. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for an engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and bridging the gap between business needs and technical execution. We are looking for a leader who can take end-to-end ownership of critical projects, mentor fellow engineers, and make strategic decisions that shape our technical future.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of critical, user-facing features and backend services.
Take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial ideation and technical design through to deployment and post-launch maintenance.
Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and business stakeholders to shape the product roadmap and translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions, making pragmatic tradeoffs between long-term scalability and immediate business needs.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and set the standard for code quality across the team.
Deconstruct ambiguous, complex problems into clear, actionable steps for the team.
Identify and address performance bottlenecks, production issues, and sources of technical debt.
Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes to enhance team productivity and system reliability.
Identify ways to leverage AI to increase software development velocity.

Requirements

6+ years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of shipping high-impact products on schedule.
Demonstrated proficiency of system design, data structures, and algorithms.
Mastery of mobile app constraints (network connectivity, touch UX accessibility, etc) and how to leverage or overcome them.
Can architect and deliver performant and resilient mobile applications from scratch.
Understands source code in any modern language at a glance.
Deep expertise in either iOS or Android, with experience developing for the other.
A strong product mindset and the ability to think from a user's perspective.
Proven ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical projects.
Experience working in a cross-functional environment and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, with a knack for balancing technical purity with business velocity.
