About the Role
The Guest Services Host provides frontline exceptional visitor service and completes gallery assignments, interacting with guests of all ages to anticipate and respond to their needs, ensuring an exceptional museum experience. This role requires a patient, positive, friendly, and approachable individual passionate about making a difference in a guest's day.
Responsibilities
- Greet, welcome, and interact with museum guests.
- Provide extraordinary guest service and exceed expectations.
- Handle guests' needs, questions, and expectations effectively.
- Resolve guest complaints quickly and effectively.
- Use initiative and enthusiasm to create exceptional guest experiences.
- Maintain awareness of the museum's mission, history, programs, and special events and communicate this information to guests.
- Report to work on time, as scheduled.
- Remain in assigned area unless granted permission by a supervisor.
- Participate in cleaning and dusting of gallery spaces.
- Operate, monitor, and communicate via a two-way radio.
- Anticipate situations and respond quickly and effectively, especially regarding safety.
- Handle minor emergencies appropriately and call for assistance.
- Provide assistance to guests needing directions or who have been separated from their party.
- Provide back-up to other gallery staff.
- Maintain integrity of assigned areas by following guest service and safety procedures.
- Maintain appearance and functionality of assigned area by cleaning.
- Organize and maintain inventory of craft and activity supplies.
- Notify supervisor of low-stock items.
- Model proper use of materials and participation in activities.
- Report broken or worn toys and other exhibit-related issues.
- Identify and develop ways to improve work processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Take initiative to identify and solve problems.
- Publicly support team decisions.
- Participate in all required museum trainings.
- Welcome new staff and create a positive work environment.
- Identify and act on opportunities to help and support coworkers and staff from other teams.
Requirements
- Open availability to work any day of the week, including Fridays and Saturdays until 8:15 p.m., and holidays.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Prior guest services experience in a fast-paced entertainment venue is a plus.
- Must consent to and successfully complete a reference check, drug screen, physical, and background check.
