About the Role
We are designing the grid of the future! This position will have specific emphasis placed on IBR plant dynamic modeling for NERC PRC-029-1 compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCAD and PSSE.
- Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit and dynamic.
- Perform various compliance technical assessments on IBR facility rating, protection coordination, ride through assessment.
- Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies.
- Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed.
- Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
- Identify training needs and present them to the Engineering Manager as needed.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
- Leverage AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power systems
- 5 years+ of experience as a power systems engineer
- Experience with NERC PRC-024-3, NERC PRC-029-1, NERC MOD-026-1, NERC MOD-027-1, and NERC MOD-026-2
- Experience with performing power system impact studies such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability
- Experience with power systems software such as PSCAD and PSSE
- Experience with automating/programing in Python
- Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
