About the Role
The Lifeguard will be responsible for maintaining a safe and welcoming pool environment, monitoring swimmers, enforcing pool safety rules, responding to emergencies, and providing excellent customer service to members and guests. The ideal candidate is professional, attentive, and enjoys working with people in a community-focused environment. Afternoon, evening, and Sunday availability is required.
Responsibilities
- Warmly greet members and guests as they arrive and depart the pool deck.
- Check members & guests into the pool deck.
- Provide information/answer questions in a clear and friendly manner.
- Handle complaints and concerns in a timely or immediate fashion when possible.
- Make appropriate referrals and recommendations upon request.
- Verify account status and notify members of any problems.
- Take attendance for all group fitness classes.
- Inspect locker rooms periodically to ensure health/safety standards, cleanliness, and neatness.
- Adhere to all dress code regulations.
- Exhibit awareness of and enthusiasm for all programs offered by the JCC.
- Ensure the safety of all persons in the pool and pool area.
- Uphold and improve upon safety procedures to protect and safeguard the public in the aquatics facilities.
- Interact with members and non-members in a friendly and professional manner.
- Routinely inspect pool safety equipment.
- Act in a supervisory capacity on the pool deck.
- Respond immediately to all emergency situations in the JCC building.
- Enforce rules and water safety procedures in a professional, polite manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck.
- Remain aware of potential hazards or unsafe conditions and report them to management.
- Arrive on time for shift and after break time.
- Open and close facility as required per schedule of hours.
- Regularly check and document chemical readings for both pools.
- Maintain accurate head count numbers.
- Report all problems and issues to the Aquatics Director or person in charge.
- Follow established code of conduct.
- Attend staff meetings.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Evening and Sunday availability required.
