About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Maintenance Department Supervisors for Cable, Testing & Inspection, Maintenance, and Grip operations, ensuring equipment readiness, regulatory compliance, quality standards, and support for Film & TV production requirements.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through the RTPro repair module, documenting all incoming and outgoing equipment and repairs.
  • Monitor and process Loss and Damage information paperwork and photographs, sending completed documentation for pricing and distribution.
  • Evaluate lost or damaged Film & TV equipment and provide Customer Service Representatives with accurate pricing for repairs, replacements, parts, and labor.
  • Oversee the processing of equipment to ensure it is completed in a safe and efficient manner to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Assist in supervising the Electronics Technicians by organizing and directing the operation and workflow of the Electronics department.
  • Understand the operation of hand tools and small power tools, including safe practices, application, and function.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the operation, function, application, and safe handling of hand tools and small power tools.
  • Advise and mentor staff on the diagnosis and resolution of electrical and mechanical failures.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Inventory Manager regarding unresolved issues, inventory discrepancies, and potential challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to secure specialized parts and materials required for the repair and maintenance of Film & TV equipment.
  • Advise the Client Services Supervisor of equipment damage, failures, or operational issues resulting from improper use.
  • Evaluate Film & TV equipment inventories to identify assets approaching the end of their useful life and recommend retirement or replacement.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to departments across the organization.
  • Undergo re-training on current and future generations of lighting equipment and subsequent schooling on Electrical/Electronic theories as required.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with vendors to support supply chain security, risk mitigation, and operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to test and assess emerging lighting technologies.
  • Administer and maintain all HR-related records and transactions within Workday.
  • Supervise all sub-department workflow, attendance, and scheduling matters in times of absence.
  • Lead employee performance management processes, including coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Lead employee development initiatives by conducting regular assessments, identifying training opportunities, and supporting career growth.
  • Ensure all maintenance facilities and work areas are maintained to the highest professional standards.
  • Ensure all departments adhere to WCB requirements, company policies, and established safety standards.
  • Drive safety performance by implementing and auditing Critical Controls, conducting Take 10 risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and ensuring corrective actions are completed.
  • Carry out other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess critical thinking skills, strong digital and analogue skills, ability to troubleshoot in a logical manner.
  • Must understand rudimentary electrical theory.
  • Professional, clear verbal and written communication.
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience as a maintenance person.
  • Must have above average organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure, and to tight deadlines.
  • Must have above average people skills.
  • The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 25 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
