About the Role

This position performs routine and non-routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles, adhering to FirstGroup standards. The role involves tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls, conducting visual inspections, and other assigned tasks, operating under minimal supervision. It handles advanced issues and may refer more complex problems to senior staff, always prioritizing safety. The role may also provide informal guidance to Technician I. In Washington state, this is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers by performing limited repairs with moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance such as replacement of light bulbs, fuses, lenses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, check fluid levels, change fluids and filters and lubricate components.
  • Perform mechanical repairs under moderate supervision including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
  • Maintain records of all maintenance work completed on vehicles including parts and supplies used.
  • Ensure that work orders are completed properly and accurately.
  • Maintain parts usage records and order repair parts from designated suppliers.
  • Assist Tech III with preventative maintenance (PM’s), safety maintenance inspections and annual maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals of time and usage.
  • Remove and replace engine, transmission and differential assemblies with Maintenance Technician III supervision.
  • Diagnose and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under moderate supervision.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to FirstGroup standards, policies and procedures.
  • Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
  • Repair and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Clean vehicles as requested or required.
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Class B CDL with passenger endorsement required (or expected within 3 months of hire)
  • State inspection license (if required)
  • Must participate in ASE testing program within 1 year (expected to have 3 ASE within 12 months of hire)
  • Adhere to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comfortable using hand tools
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Possess adequate mechanic tool inventory to complete all assigned duties and maintained in a clean and safe manner
  • English proficiency is required for training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job-related communications.

Salary/Compensations

  • $25.00/hr based on CBA
