About the Role

The Service Clubs and Volunteer Support Officer plays a key role in the Community Fundraising and Events team, focusing on building and maintaining strong relationships with service clubs, community partners, and volunteers. This role coordinates fundraising initiatives, supports national events, and ensures effective engagement of external partners and volunteers to advance Diabetes Canada's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Research and identify potential prospect donors to maximize fundraising revenue with the annual target of $700k+
  • Work with volunteer clubs and agencies to identify potential committee members
  • Create fundraising campaigns and strategies for soliciting service clubs
  • Experience hosting and creating committees that focus on revenue generation
  • Strengthen relationships with service clubs, community leaders, agencies, and industry partners to maximize financial contributions to meet annual target goals
  • Complete grant applications, presentations, impact reports and stewardship events working in collaboration with the Stewardship and Camp team
  • Implement a Service Club Strategy that focuses on efficiencies and revenue growth
  • Build and steward both regional and national committees to attain fundraising targets
  • Works cross functionally to identify sponsors and hosts of CFE events
  • Be a proactive, forward-facing representative for DC
  • Conducts prospect research to identify new contacts, partnerships, and growth opportunities
  • Create and implement the CFE team’s volunteer engagement strategy
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate engagement of volunteers
  • Lead the student internship and Canada Summer Jobs work program for the team
  • Support and recognize valued volunteers as part of DC’s overall volunteer engagement strategies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of fundraising experience
  • 2–3 years of event and volunteer management experience
  • Excellent writing skills with experience in creating campaign letters, grant writing, and presentations
  • Experience working with CRM systems and demonstrated ability to utilize these systems to appropriately document volunteer activities and maintain ongoing communication
  • High degree of familiarity with Imagine Canada’s Standards for Charities and Not-for Profits, the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement and other industry standard documentation
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and achieve success through teamwork
  • Strong proficiency in CRM databases, Power BI and other fundraising platforms
  • Agile and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Diabetes Canada’s mission, vision, and core values
  • Occasional evening and weekend work
  • The Officer is expected to travel to attend events
  • Candidate must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Must hold a valid work permit or study permit that allows you to fulfill the requirements of this role
