About the Role
This role involves originating mortgage loans for members and non-members, making smart lending decisions, and ensuring the loan process moves smoothly from application to closing. The position aims to establish Heritage Financial Credit Union as a leading mortgage lending institution.
Responsibilities
- Actively sell CU products and services including consumer and real estate loans.
- Perform credit counseling and analyze credit reports.
- Solve difficult member issues.
- Develop Mortgage Loan business for members and non-members.
- Interview and counsel members regarding mortgage products and other credit union offerings.
- Stay informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market.
- Participate in sales development activities and furthering education.
- Interact with Credit Union personnel to ensure seamless service and processing of approved applications.
- Adhere to current laws and ensure compliance with terms.
- Coordinate lending activities with the loan department.
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations, credit union policies and procedures.
- Refer members to Financial Services as appropriate.
- Work non-traditional hours as necessary to meet member and credit union needs and goals.
- Travel to maintain and build networking relationships that promote HFCU and its products and services.
- Attend realtor and networking functions to promote HFCU brand awareness.
- Maintain a presence in the local mortgage industry to create and promote the HFCU mortgage brand awareness.
- Utilize networking relationships to bring new memberships and mortgage loans to HFCU.
- Assist in training new employees.
- Recommend changes, workflow efficiencies, and quality improvements.
- Meet Goals/Core Comp requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 4-year college degree preferred.
- Five to seven years of experience in sales and/or financial counseling, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Notary designation or ability to attain within 6 months.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, underwriting and compliance guidelines.
- Good communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and their impact on work.
- Experience using P.C. based software and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
