About the Role
The 32BJ Dental Center is expanding and seeking patient-driven Central Sterilization Technicians (CST) to support the successful operations of the Dental Center. This role involves maintaining and sterilizing all instruments according to established standards and ensuring the proper functioning of sterilization equipment.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and dental supplies following proper sterilization standards.
- Assemble, sterilize, wrap, and seal instrument trays according to proper sterilization standards.
- Monitor biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination.
- Sort and categorize instruments to ensure complete and correct instrument trays.
- Maintain proper storage of instruments, displaying sterilization dates and ensuring trays are within timeframe standards.
- Assist with ordering, replacement, and inventory control of instruments and supplies.
- Maintain up-to-date biomedical inspection reviews and reports, displaying required bio-hazard inspection stickers.
- Provide weekly reviews of sterilization equipment and calibrations to ensure compliance.
- Maintain log and tagging systems for proper tracking and return of instruments.
- Perform and log BD and Spore testing, report failures immediately, and collect instruments processed during failed cycles.
Requirements
- HS Diploma
- Successfully completed Central Sterile Service Program
- Certificate accredited by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
- Certification International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
- Ability to work in surroundings with a degree of dust and noise without undue discomfort.
- Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend, and stretch.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.
- Ability to sit for long periods at a desk.
- Ability to stand for long periods as required in procedural or sterilization areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.
- May be exposed to mechanical/electrical/radiant/explosive/burn and chemical hazards.
- May be required to handle, dispose of, and/or identify hazardous waste and hazardous materials.
- May be required to operate and clean equipment.
- May be required to work both indoor/outdoor under extreme temperatures.
- May be required to handle reasonably heavy weights across distances.
- Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all IFH policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain applicable qualifications.
- Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

Salary/Compensations
- $62,892.29 as New Hire
- $2,000 annually based on required Spanish fluency
