About the Role
The Perkins&Will New York studio is seeking a Project Architect with strong business acumen and a passion for design to join our healthcare practice. This role requires technical leadership, collaboration with consultant and project teams, and a focus on successful client outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Manage project planning, development, and execution of technical documentation.
- Coordinate project team assignments.
- Collaborate with designers on design development and construction documents.
- Address the technical implications of design decisions.
- Facilitate firm and project goals for design excellence, execution, and sustainability.
- Direct the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents.
- Coordinate the execution of project documentation, construction plans, and details, ensuring quality control.
- Stay informed about evolving building technology and systems.
- Coordinate engineering systems relevant to projects.
- Review shop drawings, material samples, and CDs for design conformance.
- Conduct and document field observations to monitor construction progress.
- Perform construction administration duties, including RFIs, RFPs, and change orders.
- Prepare reports and specifications; review completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations.
- Execute applicable agency review analyses, including accessibility, zoning, and life-safety.
- Ensure tasks are completed according to Perkins&Will standards.
- Establish architectural budgets, task schedules, and project work plans.
- Direct or coordinate the production of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Implement meeting objectives, facilitate meetings, and provide documentation.
- Participate in marketing and client presentations.
Requirements
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in architecture, with a focus on healthcare architecture.
- Licensed architect in the United States.
- LEED AP or obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Collaborative and professional work ethic.
- Experienced in all phases of project design, construction documentation production, and construction materials.
- Familiar with building codes, specifications, building, and engineering systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including client presentation skills.
- Strong passion for working relationships with clients and consultants, building relationships, and expanding the practice.
- Ability to apply Revit and interpret and review Revit drawings.
- Portfolios must include sample construction document sets with examples of direct involvement in their production.
- Must be a licensed architect in the US.
