About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technologist for our Operating Room team. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures and collaborating with nurses to assure an efficient workflow of cases.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate professional responsibility in the Certified Surgical Technologist role.
• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure.
• Maintain vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field.
• Check supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrub, gown, and glove.
• Set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions.
• Ensure all fluids on the back table are marked.
• Perform appropriate counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before incision closure.
• Gown and glove surgeon and assistants.
• Assist in draping the sterile field.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon during the procedure.
• Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
• Prepare sterile dressings.
• Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assist other team members with terminal cleaning of the room.
• Assist in prepping the room for the next patient.
• Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Inspect, maintain, and track equipment, request repairs, and track loaner equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of nationally accredited Surgical Technology program, certification required.
• BLS Required.
• Candidates must provide written authorization before any background check or drug screening is initiated.
• Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of all required screenings.

Skills

• Ability to apply, read, and interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced operating room environment.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
