About the Role
This is a hands-on hardware internship where you will build, test, and ship devices used in real aircraft. You will work directly with hardware and engineering teams, experiencing the immediate impact of your work and contributing to fixing any issues that arise. Navi is already operational at leading flight schools.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, wire, and bench-test Navi devices, including audio capture, mounting hardware, cable harnesses, and enclosures.
- Diagnose failures on returned or field-reported units and provide feedback to improve the build process.
- Contribute to improving the build process through fixturing, assembly documentation, and other enhancements to increase speed and reliability.
- Track inventory, components, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure timely deployment.
- Support installs and field testing by prepping shipments, guiding operators through mounting, and validating data collection.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to connect the build process with the pilot experience.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or possess equivalent hands-on experience.
- Comfortable using hand tools, wiring, and performing basic electronics debugging.
- Demonstrated care and consistency in work, understanding the importance of uniform hardware assembly.
- Experience building physical objects, such as personal projects, robotics, Formula SAE, RC aircraft, drones, or workshop creations.
- Willingness to perform essential, non-glamorous tasks like assembly and testing with a focus on perfection.
- Curiosity about failure analysis and persistence in identifying root causes.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to help develop processes.
