About the Role

As a People Associate at Check, you will be a key part of reinventing our candidate and employee experience. You'll drive core workflows in recruiting coordination, onboarding, office management, culture and experience, and people ops administration. This role demands a real doer with an eye for detail and a bias toward action.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor the SF office as we expand our Bay Area presence, organizing team lunches, IRL events, and managing the physical space.
  • Drive candidate scheduling and communication across all interview loops and stages in Ashby.
  • Lead the candidate-to-new-hire transition, managing offer letters, background checks, equipment provisioning, systems access, and first-day plans.
  • Support key HR processes, including maintaining HRIS data hygiene, supporting audit prep, processing review cycle comp changes, and assisting with payroll and benefits administration.
  • Organize events and cultural touchpoints across Check, leading in-person social gatherings in the SF office and supporting company-wide events like the annual retreat.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of directly relevant experience, including hands-on experience with recruiting coordination and people operations.
  • Meticulous process execution, especially within sensitive workflows like onboarding, offboarding, or payroll and benefits processing.
  • Real event planning muscle - designing thoughtful virtual and in-person experiences.
  • AI adopter mindset, with AI tools already integrated into daily workflows.
  • Familiarity with our core People team tech stack: Ashby, Eddy, Notion, Claude Cowork, Checkr, eVerify, Jumpcloud, Allwhere, Employee Navigator, Tilt, Windmill, KnowBe4, Google, Slack.
