About the Role

The Patient Access Representative is the first point of contact for patients and visitors, responsible for greeting them, gathering accurate demographic and insurance information, and ensuring proper reimbursement. This role requires excellent customer service skills and financial communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verify patient information, ensure completion and signing of necessary paperwork.
  • Obtain copies of insurance cards and driver's licenses.
  • Accurately and timely enter/update patient demographic and insurance information in the computer system.
  • Compile and maintain all forms and documents in the patient's medical record.
  • Maintain the appointment scheduling system, including scheduling, coordinating, and adjusting appointments.
  • Consistently follow the 'No-Show' procedure.
  • Complete appointment reminder calls.
  • Answer telephone promptly, screen calls, take messages, or route calls appropriately.
  • Distribute information to nursing and medical support staff efficiently, accurately, and courteously.
  • Collect patient co-pays and outstanding account balances.
  • Prepare office batches and balance patient payments at the end of each workday.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.
  • Communicate with insurance companies for referral information.
  • Assist patients with scheduling specialist appointments and/or testing.
  • Check out patients, provide visit-specific information, and schedule future appointments.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly front desk and waiting area.
  • Timely and accurately enter patient clinical information in the EMR as related to assigned tasks.
  • Participate fully as a member of the Patient Centered Medical Home Team.
  • Perform professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Previous Related Experience.
