About the Role

This internship focuses on researching and reporting on the history of Mohonk Mountain House from 1869 to the present, utilizing archival collections, historical resources, interviews, and material culture interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Research and report using archival collections, historical resources, interviews, and material culture.
• Employ academic and field research techniques to document Mohonk Mountain House's history.
• Produce outreach materials leveraging historic assets using written and digital communication.
• Organize work, prioritize duties, and work independently and as part of a team.
• Work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Work methodically and accurately with attention to detail.
• Answer phones, retrieve messages, and respond to research requests.
• Assist with special projects, clerical, and administrative tasks.
• Work extended periods viewing a computer monitor and/or operating a keyboard.
• Perform basic mathematical skills.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Windows-based operating systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Adhere to Mohonk Mountain House's Dress and Grooming Standards.
• Learn and demonstrate Mohonk Mountain House Service Steps with Service Strategies.
• Learn and retain historical facts and information about Mohonk Mountain House.
• Inspect work by touch, sight, sound, and smell for conformance to standards.
• Speak, read, and write English, communicating clearly and congenially.
• Hear verbal instructions, directions, and warnings.
• Reach with hands and arms, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, flex arms, walk, stand, climb, and sit for up to 5 hours.
• Lift up to 20 pounds and carry a distance of up to 25 feet.
• Walk up to 2 miles per day.
• See close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
• Work in an environment that contains dust.
• Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
