About the Role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead meaningful transportation projects, expanding your influence beyond technical work. You will solve engineering problems, deliver high-quality designs, work directly with clients, guide project teams, mentor younger engineers, and contribute to shaping the growth of our transportation practice.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects from early planning through final design and construction support.
- Manage highway and roadway design.
- Oversee NYSDOT and Federal Aid projects.
- Prepare design reports and technical documentation.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project efforts.
- Conduct technical reviews and quality oversight.
- Manage client and agency coordination.
- Provide construction-phase engineering support.
- Take ownership of projects and guide teams through complex technical and delivery challenges.
- Have a voice in project decisions and help improve how our transportation team approaches its work.
- Share knowledge and help younger engineers develop judgment and confidence.
- Work directly with clients and agency partners to build trusted relationships.
- Take on increasingly complex projects and responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Eight or more years of transportation engineering experience.
- Experience delivering NYSDOT and Federal Aid transportation projects.
- Strong roadway and highway design experience.
- Experience preparing and reviewing design reports, plans, specifications, estimates, and bid documents.
- Proficiency with MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead project teams and develop productive client relationships.
- New York Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or willingness and ability to obtain one shortly after joining C&S.
