About the Role

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for supporting accounting and financial reporting for RPM, including financial reporting, cash management, and the general ledger for a portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial information in accordance with deadlines and requirements, adhering to accounting policies and procedures while maintaining effective internal controls.
  • Prepare financials for multiple clients with varying reporting requirements.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients and property management in a timely manner, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Utilize detailed technical accounting skills to assess the appropriateness of accounting treatment.
  • Manage cash flow to pay property expenses and predict funding needs.
  • Record journal entries and accruals, reconcile income, and document prepaid rent in industry-specific software.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Perform bank reconciliations as appropriate.
  • Process cash disbursements via wires and checks, prepare invoicing and inter-company collections, and maintain a daily cash balance.
  • Mentor and train new or less experienced accounting staff.
  • Participate in the preparation and maintenance of written policies and procedures for assigned functions.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Executive Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ Years of Property Management Experience Preferred or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data.
  • Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer.
  • May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check as local and federal state requires.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred; candidates without a license will be provided a liability waiver.
