About the Role

The Mortgage Consultant Assistant is responsible for proactively strengthening business relationships between Hunt Sales Associates, borrowers, potential applicants, and other individuals or teams involved in the mortgage transaction, along with the Hunt Mortgage Consultant(s). This objective is reached by obtaining an MLO license and assisting Hunt Mortgage Consultants with day-to-day activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the VP and Compliance team to obtain your Mortgage Loan Originator License.
  • Begin and/or complete potential borrower(s) data entry information in the Encompass LOS system.
  • Answer calls and texts, respond to agents and buyers, and schedule calls between the MC and borrower or agent.
  • Review, send, or update a pre-qualification letter to agents and borrowers with MC approval.
  • Utilize NCINO and Encompass systems, along with other mortgage-related systems.
  • Run automated underwriting decision engines from Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or Government Underwriting systems as directed by the Mortgage Consultant.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of borrowers' income, assets, and credit.
  • Input borrower income information into the Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac Income Calculator.
  • Run the DDA borrower income/asset analyzer on loan files.
  • Collaborate with the Hunt Mortgage Processor and closing team to ensure timely commitments and closings.
  • Follow up with borrowers for outstanding documents on files in process as advised.
  • Provide status information to borrowers and/or real estate agents.
  • Advise the Mortgage Consultant weekly on upcoming commitment dates, closing dates, rate expiration dates, or other critical tasks.
  • Distribute Hunt Mortgage rate sheets, flyers, and announcements to Hunt sales associates.
  • Assist MC’s with scheduled social media posts.
  • Assist with arrangements for lunch and learns or other office meetings and events.
  • Assist with open house sheets and other marketing tasks.
  • Support Hunt’s vision of KYSO Service, business objectives, goals, and mission.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the VP.
  • Be a valued member of an ever-growing, productive mortgage team.

Requirements

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • One or more years' experience in a customer service field.
  • Begin pre-licensing courses within ten (10) days of start date.
  • Complete the Mortgage Loan Originator test within thirty (30) days of start date and pass no later than ninety (90) days of the start date.
  • Submit all paperwork for NMLS license within ten (10) days of passing the test.
  • Receive valid NMLS license based on current standard state turn-times.

Experience Level

  • One or more years’ experience in mortgage banking, preferred, but not required
  • One or more years’ experience in a customer service field

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • A 4-year college degree is preferred
