Responsibilities
- Sort and prepare the day’s deliveries at the depot
- Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle
- Deliver packages to customers on route, primarily outdoors
- Operate portable communication devices (two-way radios/texting, PDT's)
- Represent Canada Post in a professional manner
- Maintain and safeguard all mail items and Canada Post property
- Operate a vehicle in a satisfactory safe manner
- Maintain a satisfactory safe driving record and the appropriate class of provincial driver's license
- Lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds)
- Carry mail items weighing up to 15.9 kilograms (35 pounds)
- Work safely in all outdoor elements (snow, rain, hail, icy conditions, etc.)
Requirements
- A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
- Experience in customer service is an asset
- Experience in a delivery and/or driving role is an asset
- Must pass an interview
- Must pass a Pre-Employment Physical assessment
- Must pass a step van driving test
- Availability required for Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday
- May be required to work Statutory holidays (including the day before and after)
- Will be required to successfully complete mandatory 2 consecutive weeks of training (Monday to Friday)
