About the Role
As an Occupational Therapist at the Center for Disability Services, you will collaborate with physicians, family, and treatment teams to evaluate functional strengths and needs, establishing individualized therapy for the individuals supported.
Responsibilities
- Assess functional abilities and occupational therapy needs.
- Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans.
- Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and reports accurately and timely.
- Communicate regularly with physicians, caregivers, interdisciplinary teams, school districts, and community service providers.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust interventions as needed.
- Maintain professional competency and clinical knowledge.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, professional, agency, confidentiality, HIPAA, and safety requirements.
- May occasionally supervise COTAs, interns, students, or clinical aides.
Requirements
- Current New York State Occupational Therapy license and registration required.
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, sitting, standing, and lifting.
- Ability to independently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to assist with lifts up to 150 lbs with support.
- Transfer and reposition individuals safely.
- Push/pull wheelchairs and equipment.
- Participate in emergency response, crisis intervention, and evacuation procedures.
