About the Role

BRAVO is seeking an MEP Commissioning (Cx) Engineer / Architect / Design Reviewer to support renovation and new construction projects for a New York City public agency client. This role is responsible for overseeing the commissioning of MEP systems, ensuring alignment with design intent, code requirements, and overall system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the commissioning process for projects requiring MEP systems commissioning across design, construction, start-up, and post-occupancy phases.
  • Assign work to commissioning consultants and review proposals for MEP commissioning services.
  • Oversee consultant payment request processing.
  • Assist the supervisor in managing consultants engaged in MEP commissioning design reviews, construction phase oversight, and project closeout activities.
  • Review and update construction checklists (pre-functional checks) for all equipment and systems to be commissioned.
  • Review and update functional performance test procedures for all commissioned systems.
  • Support project commissioning closeout activities by coordinating with commissioning consultants, client's internal departments, consultants, and contractors.
  • Organize and lead recurring borough meetings and project-specific meetings.
  • Review renovation and new construction design, including scope documents and design submissions.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation for compliance and quality.
  • Identify commissioning-related issues, design gaps, constructability concerns, and potential code compliance issues early in the design process.
  • Document findings with clear, written review comments.
  • Participate in project progress meetings and design review/QC meetings.
  • Assist internal divisions in reviewing Local Laws, energy codes, and regulatory updates.
  • Assist in the development, revision, and implementation of new or updated design standards, commissioning guidelines, and technical requirements.
  • Contribute technical recommendations to enhance energy efficiency, system reliability, maintainability, and long-term operational performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of MEP commissioning experience (design review, pre-functional and functional test procedures, construction phase oversight)
  • Strong knowledge of energy codes, LEED standards, and industry standards/protocols for commissioning
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.

Salary/Compensations

  • $115,000—$135,000 USD
