About the Role

As a Tenancy Enforcement Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting private renters across Camden and ensuring everyone has access to safe, secure housing. You will investigate reports of illegal eviction, harassment, and housing-related discrimination, supporting vulnerable residents to understand and exercise their rights. This role involves casework, investigation, and advocacy, gathering evidence, building cases against non-compliant landlords and agents, and driving improvements in the private rented sector.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate reports of illegal eviction, harassment, and housing-related discrimination.
  • Support residents to understand and exercise their rights.
  • Gather evidence and build cases against landlords and agents.
  • Resolve disputes, prevent homelessness, and take enforcement action.
  • Work closely with tenants, landlords, letting agents, and partner organisations.

Requirements

  • Experience in housing enforcement, tenancy relations, or a similar regulatory environment.
  • Good understanding of housing legislation and practical application of enforcement powers.
  • Experience with unlawful eviction, harassment, and tenant protections.
  • Confident investigating complex cases and gathering evidence.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support legal proceedings.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Ability to explain legal requirements clearly and negotiate effectively.
  • Balanced, customer-focused approach to resolving disputes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
