About the Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will shape and deliver the Council’s response to the national SEND Reforms. You will drive forward Waltham Forest’s SEND reform plans, leading an integrated approach to programme delivery to strengthen inclusive practice and support for children and young people in the borough. You will provide expert project management, insightful advice, and constructive challenge in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain robust programme governance, including project plans, risk and issue logs, benefits plans and assurance mechanisms.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports and recommendations for programme boards and members as required.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, escalating where appropriate.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with senior officers and partners including schools, parents and health partners.
  • Act as a trusted adviser on project delivery and support services to evidence measurable impact for children, young people and families.

Requirements

  • Experience of leading complex projects in a large, fast-paced organisation.
  • Strong understanding of agile and traditional project management methodologies, tools and techniques.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present clearly to audiences.
  • Strong partnership working skills and the ability to develop and manage diverse partnerships.
  • Exceptional planning, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, solution-focused approach.
  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks.
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest.
  • Public-facing role requires fluent English with confidence and accuracy for effective performance.
