About the Role
The Family and Youth Specialist performs duties involving the functioning of the visitation portion of programs run through Family Support Services. This position provides direct service to children and families, collaborating with DSS staff and foster parents. The schedule accommodates client, program, and Agency business needs, with occasional anticipated work weeks exceeding 40 hours.
Responsibilities
- Provide supervised visitation for families enrolled in the program and documentation of visitation
- Create monthly reports regarding visitation
- Participate in the development and implementation of treatment strategies
- Provide case management and document activities and observations
- Provide transportation for children and families
- Collaborate with all individuals/agencies associated with children/families
- Participate in inter and intra agency meetings
- Attend trainings to remain current with best practice in the field
- Participate in weekly supervision
- Testify in Family Court
- Complete all additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager
Requirements
- High School Diploma with 2 years of case management experience
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license is required
- Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance
- Ability to sit, squat, crouch and stand for elongated periods of time
- Ability to lift arms over head in upward reaching motion
- Ability to walk up and downstairs up to several times per day
- Varying levels of travel as determined by departmental needs may be required
