About the Role
Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit seeks talented risk management professionals to join its award-winning Risk team. This role will focus on shaping and safeguarding complex Construction and Infrastructure projects across various dynamic sectors, including Transport, Defence, Water, Buildings, and Energy. You will undertake assurance reviews, inform business case development, and act as a consultant within client environments, coaching project staff and building strong stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
- Undertake assurance reviews of risk deliverables and methodologies to confirm conformance to best practice.
- Inform the development of Business Cases, Investment Decisions and Appraisals, including assuring the quality of risk evidence.
- Work as a consultant within a client environment, embedding expertise into their teams.
- Coach, develop and supervise project staff, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Build strong relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholders effectively.
Requirements
- Competency with implementing Risk Management processes aligned with ISO31000/ Institute of Risk Management / Association of Project Management methodologies on complex Construction and Infrastructure projects.
- Experience initiating, developing, and implementing risk management processes.
- Experience facilitating risk workshops as part of the overall delivery of the risk process.
- Experience conducting regular risk reviews to maintain a project risk register and ensure the project risk profile is accurate and current.
- Experience undertaking Quantitative Cost and Schedule Risk Analysis techniques.
- Experience producing appropriate risk management reports to inform decision making.
- Awareness of industry risk management tools such as: ARM, Xactium, Primavera Risk Analysis, SafranRisk, @Risk, Risk Predict!.
- Understanding of how risk management integrates with other Project Management and Project Controls disciplines including cost estimating, project planning and contract administration.
- Ability to implement effective risk management activities to actively reduce risk exposure and uncertainty on projects & programmes.
- Ability to support development and implementation of risk management approaches/systems for clients, incorporating best practice and procedures.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and engage with project teams to ensure the effective implementation of risk management.
- Ability to work closely with planners to understand delivery expectations, identify potential risks and link risks to schedule activities.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organisation skills.
- Effective listening, persuasion, collaborative style, leadership, flexibility, self-motivation, creativity and insightfulness.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft applications.
- Meet 80% or more of the stated requirements.
