About the Role

RSM is seeking a Supervisor for their Private Client Services team, offering the chance to work on diverse client engagements within a national practice. You will contribute to improving company performance through challenging business cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team through the entire process, preparing financial statements, disclosures, and reportable conditions letters with a focus on quality, thoroughness, and accuracy.
  • Provide timely, high-quality client service, coordinating audits, reviews, and compilations of financial statements, disclosures, and other deliverables.
  • Develop an understanding of client businesses and needs.
  • Understand and utilize RSM’s review, compilation, and audit methodology.
  • Collaborate with engagement managers/senior managers on engagement approach and execute plans using a risk-based approach.
  • Recognize industry-specific and general accounting and auditing issues.
  • Provide insightful feedback on financial statements and prepare other client deliverables.
  • Supervise associates and seniors, monitoring productivity and adherence to work plans and budgets.
  • Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as they arise.
  • Interact with clients to ensure efficient information flow.
  • Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to management and partners.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for team members.
  • Understand client and industry issues, and recognize opportunities for RSM to assist clients.
  • Manage time effectively across multiple projects.
  • Stay updated on industry developments through reading trade publications and thought leadership.
  • Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Active CPA license or demonstrated progress toward CPA licensure.
  • 4+ years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to apply relevant accounting and auditing standards.
  • Understanding of compilation, review, audit, and tax services.
  • Experience leading portions of audit engagements from planning through completion.
  • Experience reviewing workpapers and managing workflow across multiple engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, including coaching, reviewing work, and providing performance feedback.
  • Proven ability to manage client communication and expectations, including escalating issues and supporting resolution.
  • Experience overseeing substantive testing, analytical procedures, and control testing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Effective project management skills, including managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
  • Ability to work extended or non-standard hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to maintain consistent, onsite presence during core business hours.
  • Ability to travel to client sites as required.
