About the Role

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the common areas of the safe haven, including offices, multi-purpose rooms, roof deck, garden, trash collection area, lobby, fitness room, and sidewalks. This role also involves cleaning client areas and assisting with various facility maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, mop, wash, dust, and vacuum common areas.
  • Seal, wax, and buff floors and hard surfaces.
  • Maintain sidewalks, including sweeping, raking leaves, and shoveling snow.
  • Clean individual units when vacated or requested by work order.
  • Sort and package recyclables to comply with NYC regulations.
  • Operate compactor.
  • Set up and clean up for meetings and other events.
  • Assist painters and engineers when assigned.
  • Perform work at other facilities as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Comparable work experience.
  • Experience operating a vacuum cleaner and high-speed buffer.
  • Ability to lift and move furniture, appliances, etc.
  • Ability to stand for several hours during shift and to climb stairs in the event of an emergency.
  • Experience working with special needs populations is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of using a computer is a plus, but is not required.
