About the Role

The postholder will lead the strategic commissioning of services for adults with care and support needs and carers, primarily aged 65 and over. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services aligned with agreed commissioning priorities, enabling adults with care needs to live as independently and well as possible with choice over their care. The postholder will also lead and manage a team of commissioning support staff.

Responsibilities

Support the commissioning of services for adults with care and support needs and carers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective services aligned with commissioning priorities.
Work closely with strategic commissioners, quality assurance, contract monitoring, business intelligence, and operational colleagues to develop service improvement and development plans.
Ensure service plans are comprehensive, evidence-based, and deliver good outcomes, including robust plans for service improvement and development within specified timescales.
Foster strong collaborative working with strategic commissioners, quality assurance, contract monitoring, business intelligence, and operational teams to ensure alignment of priorities and actions.
Develop evidence-based plans informed by robust analysis of performance data, quality metrics, and market intelligence, including measurable quality improvements.

Requirements

Degree-level education.
Relevant professional qualification (desirable).
Strong commissioning experience and knowledge of legislation, markets, and best practice.
Experience in large, complex organisations.
Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
Must already hold a form of UK work authorization that does not require sponsorship (Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is not provided for this role).
