About the Role
As a Hairdresser in our center, you will make a difference, one style at a time! You will provide professional hair care and other beauty-related services to our cherished residents. In this unique and rewarding role, you’ll play a vital part in helping residents feel their best, supporting dignity, confidence, and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide a full range of hair care services including cuts, styling, shampooing, color, and perms for elderly residents.
- Create a warm, respectful, and engaging salon environment that makes residents feel at home.
- Maintain a clean and sanitized salon space in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Consult with residents (and occasionally family members) to understand their preferences and needs.
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and kindness while serving individuals with varying physical and cognitive abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of appointments and services provided.
- Collaborate with facility staff to schedule appointments and coordinate care plans as needed.
Requirements
- Current New York State cosmetology license and proof of liability insurance.
- Previous experience working with older adults or in a long-term care setting (highly preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to build rapport with seniors and staff.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
