About the Role
The primary objective of this role is to drive profitable and diversified growth in Leveraged Finance Debt Advisory, aiming to establish KPMG as the #1 holistic Corporate Finance practice in the mid-market. This involves leading the Leveraged Finance strategy, providing specialist debt advice for M&A, standalone leveraged financing, and growth funding. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external parties to originate and execute mandates, manage client relationships, and contribute to the overall growth of the Debt Advisory and Corporate Finance business.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Debt Advisory team’s ‘Leveraged Finance’ strategy.
- Provide specialist debt advice for financing activity supporting M&A and transactional activity.
- Provide specialist debt advice for standalone leveraged financing activity for private equity and financial sponsor backed businesses.
- Provide specialist debt advice for growth funding to raise leveraged finance capital.
- Work closely with debt advisory and M&A colleagues, and other specialists to originate and execute mandates.
- Participate in key Corporate Finance relationship management with clients, sponsors, and multipliers.
- Leverage firm-wide capabilities and personal relationships to originate new business opportunities.
- Support clients across the United Kingdom, including potential cross-border transactions.
- Lead the development and growth of the leveraged finance offering.
- Play a key role in furthering KPMG’s debt advisory market presence within key private equity relationships and lender communities.
- Support business development activity across Corporate Finance and the wider firm.
- Lead the origination of deal flow using internal and external contacts.
- Originate debt advisory mandates standalone or as part of a combined Corporate Finance proposition.
- Leverage KPMG’s reach and brand across Corporate Finance and the wider firm to harness senior relationships.
- Ensure rigorous and efficient execution delivery, supporting high quality and client satisfaction.
- Develop, coach, and motivate an experienced team.
- Establish high credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including intermediaries and advisors.
- Be central to all key decision making and play a vital role in the continued development and success of the Debt Advisory and Corporate Finance business.
Requirements
- Strong academic & technical background (ACA, CFA, ACT, MBA or equivalent).
- Significant experience in leveraged finance lending and/or within debt advisory in an investment bank, Big 4 or equivalent financial advisory business, debt advisory boutique, private equity team, or corporate treasury role.
- A proven and demonstrable track record of materially contributing to the successful origination of debt advisory mandates or lead debt structuring roles.
- Strong numerical, analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated experience of financial modelling.
- Significant transactional experience with a demonstrable record of deal execution across all phases of the transaction cycle from origination to completion.
- Excellent communication skills with the authority and credibility to gain respect both internally and externally with people at all levels.
- Personable approach, possessing the ability to create confidence and trust with colleagues and clients alike.
- Ability to found and maintain constructive two-way working relationships.
- Proven track record in building, motivating and empowering teams.

- The team operates sub-teams focusing on ‘Corporates’ and ‘Leveraged Finance’, including advising on financings relating to infrastructure, energy, financial services and real estate.
