About the Role

Open Door Mission is seeking individuals passionate about restoring hope and changing lives for those experiencing homelessness, addiction, or trauma. This role offers the opportunity to provide meaningful support within a Christ-centered environment, working for an employee-voted Rochester Top Workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and support to shelter guests.
• Assist in the implementation and supervision of recreational activities, including meals, chapel, smoke breaks, programming, bed count, and showering.
• Perform duties necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the community residence.
• Complete tasks assigned by leadership that maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
• Under direction, provide linkage/referrals to community resources.
• Under direction, facilitate groups for mental health, social, spiritual, recreational, housing, and other basic needs.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations, utilize de-escalation strategies, inform security of concerns, and notify emergency personnel as needed.
• Document shelter guest attendance at intake, monitor and document activity and behavior utilizing Mission Tracker.
• Track and document financial assistance funds and/or client income sources to assist Case Management in determining housing eligibility.
• Assist case management in the application process for program-eligible guests for housing, utilizing HMIS.
• Collect, verify, and secure necessary documentation for residents and determine potential barriers to assistance and/or housing.
• Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Work as a member of the shelter team for each guest.
• Adhere to Facility/Program/Open Door Mission standards, ensuring documentation/policy requirements are followed.
• Utilize Spero, HMIS, and email to record, report, and communicate client information.
• Maintain appropriate and timely communication with staff and management, especially regarding critical incidents.
• Receive training and provide assistance with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration as needed.

Requirements

• Willingness to receive training and provide assistance with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration as needed.
• Experience or interest in peer-to-peer employment opportunities, particularly in mental health and addiction.
• Experience in the behavioral health field and a desire to expand experience within the homeless sub-population.
