About the Role

The Banquet Server will assist in creating memorable events for members and guests by providing the highest level of customer service, serving food and beverages promptly and courteously, and maintaining the Granite Club's high standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction.
  • Perform all guest contact activities in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Properly serve guest food and beverage in a timely, professional manner.
  • Ensure food and beverage is the proper temperature with consistent presentation.
  • Lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Work as a team with coworkers and other departments.
  • Assist in inventories of food, beverage, equipment, meeting supplies, china, glass, and silverware on a predetermined basis.
  • Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees.
  • Enforce all sanitation procedures including safety guidelines.
  • Organize equipment for a function, and clean, maintain, and look after equipment during and after functions.
  • Ensure all storerooms are clean, organized, and secured.
  • Immediately communicate special requests made by guests to the manager, assistant manager, or banquet captain.
  • Communicate guest problems or concerns.
  • Follow all designated opening and closing procedures to ensure areas are secure and energy efficient.
  • Adhere to all department and Club-wide policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the proper handling and cleaning of all equipment, china, glass, and silver.
  • Perform any reasonable request assigned by management for the Club’s staffing and performance needs.
  • Attend staff meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 Education.
  • 1 year related work experience.
  • Smart Serve Certification.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good working knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Well groomed, mannerly, co-operative, and outwardly friendly.
  • Ability to work under periods of extreme pressure.
  • Able to work split shifts - days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of P.O.S System, Northstar or equivalent is an asset.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Flexible to work variable shifts; evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform a criminal background check and a vulnerable sector search.
