About the Role

Operates MRI equipment to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, assisting physicians in patient diagnosis and treatment while adhering to established protocols and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic MRI scanning procedures, selecting appropriate techniques based on patient age and diagnosis to produce technically accurate images.
• Assists radiologists in complex invasive MRI exams using sterile technique.
• Starts and assesses intravenous sites, injecting contrast according to protocols.
• Practices according to MRI Safety Policy.
• Maintains MRI equipment, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.
• Reports hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisors.
• Demonstrates yearly competencies to meet patient needs based on age, condition, or special requirements.
• Assesses physician orders and patient requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
• Documents patient and exam information, storing images for future reference.
• Prepares examinations for radiologist interpretation, including correct identification and processing.
• Inputs data into the RIS to track procedures and capture charges.
• Performs and documents weekly quality assurance testing on equipment.
• Works effectively as a team member, communicating and collaborating with colleagues.
• Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students.
• May be required to rotate on night, weekend, and/or holiday call schedules.
• May be required to cover ancillary offices.
• May involve physical lifting and/or walking.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an AMA approved radiology program.
• Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
• CT state license.
• CPR certification may be required.
• Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.
• Individual exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and Administrative Director.
• At least one year’s experience as a radiological technologist (desirable).
• Associates or Applied Science Degree in a related field (desirable).
• Working knowledge applicable to radiological technology, including anatomy, medical/surgical disease, and scientific principles.
• Knowledge of patient care standards and requirements.
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
• Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
• Knowledge of OSHA principles and practices.
• Knowledge of TJC standards of practice.
• Ability to operate MRI equipment.
• Ability to schedule, organize, and monitor patient flow to meet productivity, quality, health, and safety standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff, and co-workers.
• Venipuncture certificate (where applicable).
• Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
• Ability to schedule, organize, and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
• Ability to understand and follow specifications and instructions.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
• Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).

• $35.50 - $56.48 per hour + competitive shift differentials (12%-50% of base rate)
